Spirited, stubborn, playful and kind; devoted companion, excellent trail mount, babysitter, and protective mother, all this she was and more. My beloved "River" was humanely euthanized on July 21, 2005, following a pasture incident while protecting her young filly that was born in April. She had slowly lost her sight to E.R.U. over the years; completely blind this summer, she also lost her herd position and all of our pasture management efforts eventually failed her. River will be deeply missed. She took with her a piece of my heart. I can only pray that by the Grace of God she will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge, so that we may ride together again in Heaven someday. My beautiful River had a gentle soul and a heart of gold. She was a dark brown bay registered Appaloosa with frost and spots over her hips. She had a star, once sock, and stood about 15hh tall. She was the founding mare of Indian Spirit Horses. Her spirit lives on in her three beautiful fillies; Senator's Indian Tiara, Thunderspirit Sienna, and Running River Spirit. She took her fourth foal with her so that we can raise babies in Heaven.
