"Thunder Runners"
(Nez Perce War Horses)

Thundering down the mountain came

The awesome Nez Perce war horse.

His courage and his speed was legendary.

Envied was the warrior who rode him.

His spotted mount a declaration of honor.

He was loved and cherished by a people.

So he served them.

He was feared and admired by his enemies,

So they stole him.

He disgraced the army,

So they tried to destroy him.

Nearly lost -

Generations of selective breeding

abandoned,

So we found him.

We call him Appaloosa; the horse of the

iron heart.

He is loved and cherished by a people,

So the legacy continues...
